Encuentros Leadership, a San Marcos-based educational foundation that helps expose Latino boys to science and technology curriculum and encourages fathers to support sons going to college, was selected by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics as a “bright spot” in Hispanic education.
“It says that we are doing something that is working, and we are making a difference and shedding light on important issues in the community and country,” said Encuentros founder Roberto Rivas said. “I’m really proud that we were able to demonstrate that key stakeholders are paying attention. It’s a very big deal.”
