Encuentros Classroom Education Program

During the school year 2004-2005, the Encuentros Board of Directors launched a classroom education project at two middle school sites in North County. The project was a classroom curriculum targeting Latino boys utilizing the textbook Encuentros: Hombre A Hombre. The two sites were chosen because of the high Latino population and dramatic Latino student growth over the past 5 years. A total of 40 boys were enrolled. Based on the success at these school sites, the Vista Unified School District agreed to implement Encuentros school site programs at the four Vista middle schools locations during the 2008-2009 school year.  Additionally, principals from these schools will help Encuentros classroom boys to develop Encuentros student clubs.
